Introduction of Melamine

Melamine was developed in Switzerland in year 1938 and has been used worldwide at home, restaurant, hotel, hospital, airplane, and etc. Taiwan Melamine imported the technology to Taiwan in year 1977 for practical application.

The annual worldwide production of melamine tableware is about 42,000 ton (about 300 million PCS). The annual overall quantity used is greater than 2 billion PCS.

Physical and Chemical attribute
Chinese/English name of the material: Melamine
Melamine white crystal compound C3H6N6
Color of compound: Milky white
PH value: 6.6-7.2
Density: 1.18-1.20
Characteristics of the product: 1. Purity 2. White crystal powder
Sensitive Materials (percentage of materials): formaldehyde 1.5%
High-temperature stability: 120˚C
Weight (specific gravity): 1.45-1.55

Melamine is similar to urea resin. The strengths of Melamine are as below:
First, The plastic products made of Melamine have better water resistant feature. Second, the products will keep the brightness of its non- transparent color under high temperature due to better high-temperature stability.

The resin extracted by heating Melamine and Formaldehyde in acidity media has better water resistant, soaping features, better stability to chemicals, better adherence, and it does not dissolve to organic solvents.

Thermo- setting Resin

It is similar to egg which will become hardening after heating but could not reverse. Melamine Resin

The difference between Melamine tableware and metal tableware

The outer layer will not become hot after filling up boiling foods.

No rustiness

Slow heat elimination and better temperature control.

Not making noise as metal tableware.

The difference between Melamine tableware and lacquerware

The colorful pattern will not peel off in automatic cleansing machine, disinfection, or storage. There is no stink of new products as lacquerware.

The difference between Melamine tableware and ceramics

Melamine tableware is solid with low broken rate.

Taiwan Melamine is the first company applying practical collage shaping method in Taiwan.

The paper/tinsel collage shaping method was developed in Switzerland.

Taiwan Melamine was the first one to import the technology into Taiwan and successfully applied to the products. The characteristics of paper/tinsel are as below:

1.Colorful chromophore

2. Unity with finish goods with low peel-off rate

3. Nearly no color rendering.

(Paper/tinsel means the one that has printed patterns on a Japanese paper, be immersed in Melamine Resin and dried.)

Pre-heating for even hardening

Pre-heat the materials before shaping. The finished products are with even hardening and high stability.
